Blake Bahrenburg is the Hutto Veterinary Clinic’s esteemed Saturday and relief veterinary technician.

He works in Hutto when he’s not working at a large, long-time clinic in Round Rock, his vet home since about 2008.

Prior to his current vet tech jobs, Blake worked for two years at a pet store in Georgetown, in addition to working graveyard shifts at a 24-hour animal emergency clinic.

Blake originally planned to study engineering after graduation from McNeil High School, however, his stint at the pet store changed his mind. He enjoyed the animals so much he decided to change gears. He eventually hopes to go back to school to become a cytologist. He also is a member of the Companion Animal Parasite Council.

A native of Massachusetts, Blake and his family moved to Round Rock in the mid-90s when his dad began working for Dell Computers.

When he’s not working at a veterinary clinic, Blake is “obsessed with fishing,” he said, in fact, at home he has two large fish tanks with “lots of exotic fish like a Florida spotted gar, fresh-water moray eels, Texas cichlid, a blue Jack Dempsey, a large-mouth bass, crawfish and other “pets.”

Blake also has an older dog named Toby, a husky-mix with one blue eye and one brown eye, known as “party eyes.”
