Dr. Carla A. Vega was born and raised on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. She knew since childhood that she wanted to be a veterinarian, inheriting and learning a strong love for animals from her maternal grandfather.
In 2002, she earned her bachelor in science degree in Veterinary Technology from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus. Afterwards, she moved to Alabama, where she pursued her DVM at Tuskegee University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2006. She then completed an intense one-year medical internship in Hollywood Animal Hospital, in Hollywood, FL to further expand her knowledge and skills. She practiced in Round Rock for a little over one year before joining the Army in 2009.
Dr. Vega served in the Veterinary Corps for 3 years as a Captain. Dr. Vega separated from the Army with an honorable discharge in Feb 2012 and has been practicing in the Round Rock and Georgetown area since March 2012. Dr. Vega’s professional interests include internal & preventative medicine, clinical pathology and dentistry.
She is fluent in Spanish and enjoys helping the local Hispanic community. Dr. Vega spends her days off with her family; including her husband and 3 young sons. They share a home with 3 dogs and 1 cat: Neron a 10 yrs old American Bulldog parvovirus patient she treated and adopted, Lluvia a 3 yrs old terrier mix adopted from local shelter, Obi a 2 yrs Cavalier King Charles Spaniel they adopted from a rescue in Tennessee and Dulce an 8 yrs old orange tabby girl they rescue from the parking lot of a commercial establishment. She enjoys watching her sons practice karate or taking a stroll to their neighborhood park. Her hobbies include cooking, baking & crocheting.
